Technology
Grants, Planning and Evaluation
The overarching goal of the Louisiana State Plan for Educational Technology states that "… all Louisiana educators and learners will benefit from technology-rich environments that support student achievement and produce lifelong learners able to succeed in an information society.” Toward that goal, the Louisiana Department of Education promotes a coordinated effort of technology grants, technology planning, and technology evaluation.

Technology Grants
Since 1999, Louisiana school systems and schools have received more than $61.5 million in state appropriations (Classroom-Based Technology Fund) and approximately $93.1 million in federal dollars (Technology Literacy Challenge Fund and Enhancing Education through Technology Fund) to support the effective use of technology in teaching and learning. Additionally, schools and districts have accessed state 8(g) funds and federal Advanced Placement awards to provide students with expanded course offerings through distance learning.
Since 2006-07, school systems can apply for funds online via the Department of Education's Technology Grant Portal page at http://dlt.doe.louisiana.gov/Grants.
